junior high teacher would roll over in her cell if she knew I was
quoting a Rockefeller, but I just had to share with you the following,
which I spotted on a plaque at the northwest corner of the Lincoln
Center Plaza. A reflection from this millenium that's a good guidepost
for all of us in the next one.
The arts
are not for the priveliged few, but for the many. Their place is
not on the periphery of daily life, but at its center. They should
function not merely as another form of entertainment but, rather,
should contribute significantly to our well being and happiness.
