Second Late Show Added for Sold-out Harrell Run

NEW YORK -- Sarah who? If the pace at which Danspace Project is adding performances to his sold-out weekend run at St. Mark's Church is any indication, Trajal Harrell may be dance's new Golden Boy.

After an extra 10 p.m. show Friday quickly sold out, the theater added another for the same time Saturday. (And there is no guarantee that show won't have sold out by the time you read this.)

Reflecting the wide lens of a choreographer who has worked in the trenches for years to develop his ideas, "Showpony," an international production in more than one sense, promises to address the 'vogue' dance tradition, the history of fashion spectacle, and the aesthetic pedestrianism of 1960s and '70s post-modern dance. (The themes have also been explored by choreographers in France.)

For this production, Harrell had support from Danspace Project's commissioning initiative, the Jerome Foundation, the James Robison Foundation, and TanzWerkstatt-Berlin, which provided a residency.

For reservations, call Danspace Project at 212-674-8194.
