2-2: The Unbearable Lightness of Lingering
Floating with Colorado Ballet at the Joyce
By Paul Ben-Itzak

(For the woman with the
Indigo Girls quote on her screen saver. "I'm crawling on your shore.")
Imagine you are in a
world slowed so that you can appreciate every breath, every parting
of the lips, every ripple of the skin in every undulation. When
a dancer arrests motion, she arrests life and gives us the ability
to relish it, breath by breath. This is what was given to me Tuesday
night at the Joyce, in Colorado Ballet's production of Stanton Welch's
"Of Blessed Memory," by the ballerina Maria Mosina.
